There is confusion as to where Elisa was born. It was either St. Clairsville, Ohio or Wheeling, WV. which is just across the river. She did reside in Wheeling after marrying James Baker.

First married Augustus D. Carroll on 13 Sept 1833, St. Clairsville, Ohio. They had one son named for his father, Augustus D. Carroll. Second married James Baker on 7 March 1836. They had four children, James Roberts Baker, Amelia Roberts Baker, Susan Pennock Baker and Tirzah Clara Baker.

Mrs. Elizabeth D. Baker, aged eighty years, died at Plainfield yesterday. She was born in Wheeling, West Va., and had been a resident of Plainfield for twenty years. She was the widow of a Wall Street banker who died several years ago.
