Harvey Alford, one of Fieldon's oldest citizens was found dead in bed on Tuesday morning. Dr. Park, Washburn and Darby pronounced it Apoplexy. Leaves widow and children..

Harvey Alford, an old man of 63, was found dead in his bed at his home in Fieldon last Wednesday morning. He had been unusually well just preceeding his death. He emigrated from Wythe county, Virginia to this county in 1844. He leaves a widow, two married daughters and one son..
Harvey Alford was a hotel keeper:
Fielden, Richwoods Township, Jersey Co. IL - The city hotel was built in 1876 by Harvey Alford at a cost of $2,200, who ran it for awhile and then rented it. It changed hands several times and was finally taken chage of by Mr. Alford, who operated it successfully until the time of his death which occurred May 19, 1880. William H. H. West then became landlord, and managed the house about two years, since which time L. C. Milllion has had charge of it. He moved from Virginia to Illinois in 1844 and was found in a 1872 Atlas of Jersey Co., IL..
