Obituary from the 5 May 1848 edition of the Springfield Republican newspaper:
"Died at South Hadley Falls, April 25, Mary, wife of George F. Camp, aged 46.
To her husband, now mourning for the last member of his family, that death has hitherto spared him, and to the Church of Christ of which she was a member, the loss of such a woman as Mrs. C. is very great. She was one of those rare Christians who never said or did a foolish thing, and against who religious character the most censorious could find nothing to allege. The last work that faltered on her tongue while she could speak, and breathed from her lips in whispers when her voice was hushed, was 'Jesus". Those who knew her cannot doubt that is was the first in her anthem of praise when her unfettered spirit took its flight. O, that Christians who live and die as she did, were not so seldom seen!"
