Sister Rose entered the Sisters of St. Francis in 1944 and was professed in 1946. She received her B.S. Degree in Education from Mt. St. Joseph Teachers College in Buffalo, NY in 1960. Sister Rose began her teaching career at St. Benedict's School in Buffalo, NY. She also taught at St. Lawrence in Buffalo; St. Agnes, Atlantic Highlands, NJ; St. Mary’s, New Monmouth, NJ; St. John's and Holy Rosary in Columbus, OH; Sacred Heart in Charleston, WV; St. Francis International School, Rome, Italy; and finished her teaching career at Stella Niagara, retiring from there in 1995. During her retirement, she also assisted as receptionist in the office of the provincial administration at Stella Niagara. Sister Rose has been a resident of the Stella Niagara Health Center since 2001.
Sister Rose is survived by her sisters, Patricia Hinterberger of Murrels Inlet, SC, Sister Frances Clare, OSF of Stella Niagara, Anna Perry; sisters-in-law, Norma (Kirst) Perry and Mary Ann (Suchan) Perry, all of Buffalo; and many nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by Sister Mae Perry, RSM, Edward J. Perry, Sister Lurana Perry, RSM, Eugene, John, Nelson, Robert and Ursula A. Perry.
Sister Rose will be waked on Monday, May 25th from 3-7 PM, with a prayer service in her memory at 7:00 PM. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Tuesday, May 26th at 10:00 AM in the Sisters' Chapel at Stella Niagara. Memorials may be made to the Sisters of Saint Francis, 4421 Lower River Road, Stella Niagara, NY 14144. Internment in Stella Niagara Cemetery.
