Laura was a loving wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend. She passed away during the historic, raging Wimberley, Texas flood. She ascended into heaven with her two beautiful children Andrew and Leighton who were also swept away in the flood. Laura was born in Chicago, Illinois to Stephen and Lois Schultz. While Laura was not born in Texas, she got here as soon as she could and was raised in New Braunfels, Texas from infancy through graduation. In 1999, Laura graduated from New Braunfels High School where she played soccer and volleyball and was a member of the National Honor Society. Laura attended the University of Texas at Austin where she majored in microbiology and business. She was a proud member of the Zeta Tau Alpha sorority and made lifelong friendships. In 2003, Laura met the love of her life, Jonathan Daniel McComb, in Corpus Christi, Texas where they married and raised a family. Her dedication to her family was inspirational. Laura’s greatest joy and fulfillment were Andrew (age 6) and Leighton (age 4). Laura was a woman of faith. She was raised Catholic. She attended Saints Peter and Paul Catholic Church but attended First Baptist Church in Corpus Christi with Jonathan and his extended family once they married. Laura’s children attended Incarnate Word Academy in Corpus Christi where they too expressed a strong faith in God. Laura worked for Lilly as a pharmaceutical representative and was recognized nationally as a top performer. Most recently, she became a Lilly Bio Medicines Executive Sales Representative and was well respected in the medical community. Laura was a committed volunteer serving countless hours for the Junior League of Corpus Christi, The American Cancer Society’s Cattle Barron’s, Fiesta de Los Ninos (benefitting Driscoll Children’s Hospital), and Cotillion. There will never be one story to describe Laura. She had a zest for life, and made the most of every second of her life. She had fire in her soul and grace in her heart. All who knew her, loved her. Laura was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents, Dorothy and Monty Komasinski (Michigan City, IN) and paternal grandmother, Norma Schultz (New Braunfels). Laura is survived by parents, Stephen and Lois Schultz, sister, Julie Shields (Zack) of Austin, brother, Jeff (Carrie) of The Woodlands, nephews Ryan and Matthew, and niece Collyn. She is survived by members of the McComb family of Corpus Christi, including in-laws, Joe and Mary McComb, brother-in laws, David (Stacy), Darren (Abby), and Justin (Ashley) in addition to sister-in-law, Emily (Matt). She also leaves behind a number of nieces, Abby, Katherine, Meagan, and Audrey, and nephews, Carter, Alex, and Kyle.
