Dorothy Edith Ashinhurst, 86, of Shelbyville, IL, died at 4:19 p.m. Wednesday, May 27, 2015 in Shelby Memorial Hospital.
Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 30, 2015 in Howe and Yockey Funeral Home, Shelbyville, IL with Rev. Thomas Suey officiating. Visitation will be from 9:00-10:00 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home. Casual attire is requested. Burial will be in Graceland Cemetery, Decatur, IL. Memorials may be given to the American Cancer Society.
Dorothy was born on December 25, 1928 in Calhoun County, IL, the daughter of John M. and Dessie E. Childers Logsdon. She was a homemaker and a member of Christ Tabernacle Church in Herrick, IL. Dorothy loved to garden and work outside. She married Luther Jefferson Wiles in 1946 and he preceded her in death. In 1973, she married John Ashinhurst and he also preceded her in death.
She is survived by her sons, Larry Wiles of Cowden, IL and Leroy Wiles of Sullivan, IL; step-sons, Roy Ashinhurst and wife Phyllis of Mission, TX and Sammy Ashinhurst and wife Donna of Sullivan, IL; sisters, Martha Miller of Lakewood, IL, Patsy Riley of Herrick, IL and Judy Horn of Herrick, IL; 8 grandchildren; and 17 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husbands; son, Luther Wiles; four brothers, Kenneth, John Jr., Dan and Wilbur Logsdon; and five sisters, Thelma Logsdon, Alice Logsdon, Norma Logsdon, Ruby Pickett and Effie Logsdon.
