Philomena Weigel, 94, Bismarck, died June 27, 2006, at St. Alexius Medical Center.

Philomena Senger was born on September 3, 1911, in rural Hague, North Dakota, the daughter of Ludwig and Marion (Schmidt) Senger. She was raised and attended school in Hague. On November 18, 1930, she married Joseph F. Weigel at St. Mary Church in Hague. They farmed near Zeeland until 1983 when they moved into Zeeland.

Philomena enjoyed making many quilts and embroidered dish towels for all her family. She was a member of the Christian Mother's Altar Society at St. John's and St. Andrew's Church.

She is survived by three sons, Frank (Frances) of Zeeland, Clarence (Diane) of Mandan, and Gerald (Peggy) of Bismarck; six daughters, Phyllis (John) Schmidt, Florence (Dan) Kiefer, Eilene (Don) Sabot, all of Bismarck, Sally (Mike) Jacob of Linton, Harriet (LeRoy) Peterson, and Geraldine (Bill) Friesz, all of Minneapolis; 58 grandchildren; 99 great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Mike Senger of Bismarck; and three sisters, Dorothy Salwei of Minneapolis, Rose Wald of Bismarck, and Barbara Weigel of Aberdeen, South Dakota. She was preceded in death by her husband, Joe; her parents; two daughters, Alvina and Kathleen; one son, John; one brother, Sebastian Senger; two sisters, Mary Schumacher and Helen Wolf; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be at Church of Corpus Christi in Bismarck with Rev. Ed Wehner officiating. Burial will be at St. John's Cemetery in Zeeland.
