Tom Queen, Sr., 63 of Cherokee`s Soco community,
died Thursday, June 29, 2000,
in Haywood Regional Medical Center after a brief illness.
Funeral services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, July 1, at Soco Pentecostal Church. The Rev. Bo Parris officiated. Burial was in Washington Cemetery.
A native of Jackson County, he was a logger, as well as a craftsman at the Oconaluftee Indian Village.
He was a son of the late Jasper and Luzene Queen.
He was preceded in death by one sister, Annie Powell, and two brothers, Jesse and Blane Queen.
Surviving are his wife, Julia Queen, four daughters, Mary Sherrill, Rebecca Queen and Lisa Queen, all of Cherokee, and Kina Crowe of New Mexico, three sons, Tom Queen Jr., Jasper Queen and John Littlejohn, all of Cherokee, four sisters, Kina Littlejohn, Minnie Queen, Myrtle Bird and Eva Wolfe, all of Cherokee, two brothers, Henry and Lewis Queen of Cherokee, 13 grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren.
