She was born August 4, 1912, in Bridgeport, IL to Clark and Clara (Schulte) Ernst.
Growing up in southern Illinois, she knew two farmers who fought in the Civil War. During WWII, Mrs. Batchelor lived in Oakland, CA, where she was known as a “Rosie-the-Riveter” and met her late husband Robert.
She moved from Orlando, FL to the north Georgia mountains 10 years.
She was a devoted Catholic, never missing a Sunday Mass at St. Francis of Assisi Catholic Church.
Mrs. Batchelor was preceded in death by her step-son, Robert Batchelor, brother, Maurice Ernst and sister, Marie Horsfall.
She is survived by her son and his wife, Tim and Laureen Batchelor of Blairsville, GA, three grandsons and their wives, Nick and Lara Batchelor of Seattle, WA; Daniel and Nichole Batchelor of Apopka, FL; and Jeremy and Meg Batchelor of Atlanta, GA. Additionally, four great granddaughters survive her: Grace, Reilly, Kaitlyn and Maggie.
A memorial service will be held in Olney, IL, with interment in St. Joseph’s Catholic Cemetery.
