James and his family immigrated on April 02, 1913 through the port of New York. Their ship was the President Grant.

James married Emma Ivan Frolofivich Bogdanoff (1891-1948); they had six known children: Nellie, Nora, Dorothy, Nicholas, Mary, William.

After Emma died, James married Anna Alex Chickinoff (1901-1985) 22 Aug 1948 in San Francisco, CA.
