Norwegian Prime Minister. Born in Trondheim, Norway, he served as a as artillery officer in the campaign in 1814 and was established an adjutant for King Oscar I in 1815. He was Secretary of the Norwegian Council of State Department in Stockholm, (1822-41) and was appointed Prime Minister of Norway, serving (1841-58). He was also the Norwegian Ambassador in Vienna, (1859-73). He died at age 77 in Christiania, Norway.
