Anthony Nicholas Virgilio Jr.
AGE: 85 • Camden

On March 30, 2015, "Little Nick" passed away after a courageous 15 month battle with cancer. Son of Anthony N. Sr. and Caroline Rose Virgilio, he was predeceased by brothers Nicholas A. and Lawrence J. Virgilio.

A lifetime resident of the Fairview Section of Camden, NJ, Tony was a US Air Force Veteran and remained an active supporter of numerous charities and Veteran's Organizations throughout his life. An exceptional baseball player himself, he is lovingly remembered by many of the youth that he coached in the Fairview Little League. He was also passionately dedicated to perpetuating the memory of his brother Nick and his body of work. Nick, who died in 1989, was one of the most esteemed and prolific haiku poets in the world. Tony, a fine poet also, was largely responsible for the creation of the NVHA, a haiku poetry organization that was dear to his heart.

A Memorial Mass was held on May 2, 2015 at Sacred Heart Church, Camden by his close friend Monsignor Michael Doyle. Interment will take place Sunday June 28th at 2:00 PM at Historic Harleigh Cemetery, 1640 Haddon Avenue in Camden. Memorial Contributions may be sent to; Nick Virgilio Haiku Association, 16 Sandringham Terrace, Cherry Hill, NJ 08003.
