Alta Hardy Hedrick, passed away on May 24, 2001 at her home. Alta Lorine Hardy was born on December 17, 1903 in Denton, Texas.

In 1910, her father, George May Hardy, moved his family to Corpus Christi for the climate. Alta attended Corpus Christi schools including Incarnate Word Academy and later graduated from St. Mary's Hall in San Antonio, Texas. In 1926, she married James O. Hedrick, a marriage that lasted 60 years until his death. Alta was a member of the Methodist Church for almost ninety years, active in many capacities. The most recent was sewing over 400 boxer shorts for children in two church sponsored daycare centers. Always creative, she was also an avid reader.

She is preceded in death by her husband, James O. Hedrick and her parents, George May Hardy and Willie Belle Sigler Hardy.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. on Monday, May 28, 2001 at the Seaside Funeral Home. A Funeral Service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 29, 2001 at First United Methodist Church. Interment will follow at Seaside Memorial Park. When asked to what she attributed her long and active life, she always answered "Faith and the love of my family"
