Robert J. Dunbar, of Belpre, passed from this life to join his wife of 65 years, Pat, and his daughter, Ann, on March 10, 2011, at The Arbors of Marietta.

Bob was born in Brown, W.Va., to Walter and Chloe Dunbar on July 25, 1914. His parents, two sisters, two brothers, his wife and daughter preceded him in death.

He is survived by his daughter, Gwen D. Hall of Belpre, and his son, John W. Dunbar, of Tulsa, Okla. He is also survived by his grandchildren, Michelle A. Bishop of Atlanta, Ga., MSgt Eric Hall of USAFE, England, R. Travis Dunbar of Elkridge, Md., their spouses and children; and special friend, Yolanda E. Romanelli of Quincy, Mass.

He graduated from Pennsboro High School in 1932 and continued his education at Salem College and The New Mexico School of Mines in Socorro. Since retiring from his position as Senior Vice-President-Operations with Algonquin Gas Transmission, bringing natural gas to New England in the early 1950's, he was very active in the local community. If you didn't have him as your docent at the Oil and Gas Museum, you missed a wonderful treat. He was a "welcomer" as passengers came off the ferry at Blennerhassett Island complete with his "costume" that Pat had created.

Bob was an active member of First Presbyterian Church and a stalwart member of the choir there as well as a member of the Parkersburg Choral Society. He was also a lifetime member of the Friendship Lodge 56 A.F.&A.M. in West Union, W.Va., and the Lodge Council Chapter Consistory, Scottish Rite in the Valley of Boston.

While we mourn his loss, we celebrate his life and ask those of you who knew him to do the same. For those considering an expression of sympathy, the family requests that, in lieu of other remembrances, donations be made to your favorite charity in his name.

A memorial service will be announced at a later date. Arrangements have been entrusted to Vaughan Funeral Home, Parkersburg.
