Maxine Marjorie Hewitt, 67, of Rt. 1, Box 425, Mt. Clare, formerly of Lumberton, died at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 16, at her residence, following an extended illness.
She was born in Harrison County on Dec. 19, 1924, a daughter of the late James and Linda Virginia Carr Stout.
She was preceeded in death by her husband, Leo A. Hewitt, on Dec. 13, 1969.
Surviving are one son, James Darl Hewitt, Worthington; two daughters, Judy Lee Hewitt, Clay County, and Leoda Gay Hewitt, Craigsmoore; one brother, Darl H. Stout, Bridgeport; two sisters, Hazel Cooperhaver and Ruth Knight, both of Ohio; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
She was also preceeded in death by several brothers and sisters. Mrs. Hewitt had previously worked for Dola Market, the Mill Stone Restaurant and Wild Wood Tan. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the People's Hospce. Interment at Lumberport Lion's Club Cemetery. Funeral service was held at Clarksburg Chapel, 443 W. Park St. at 11:30 a.m. Saturday. Arrangements by Davis Funeral Home.
