Carl Ned Clark
Carl Ned Clark, age 85, of Beckley, passed away on Wednesday, February 16, 2011, at the Beckley VA Medical Center, following a sudden illness.
Born on February 14, 1926, at Camp Creek, W.Va., he was the son of the late Noah Clark and Hattie Mae Rose Clark.
Mr. Clark was a retired automobile mechanic, having worked at Grady Whitlock Ford for many years. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of World War II, and had made his home on Allen Avenue in Beckley most of his adult life. Mr. Clark enjoyed camping, fishing, and flower gardening. His hobbies were carving nuts and carving things out of wood. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.
He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia Dare Clark in 2007; brothers, Bernard, Dowell, Clarence, Dewey, Hershel, and Aubrey Clark, and by sisters, Hattie Mae Lilly, and Annie Clark.
Those surviving that are left to cherish his memory include his children, Roger Clark of Cabot, Ark., Wayne Clark and his wife Julia of Cabot, Ark., Doug Clark and his wife Robin of Palm Bay, Fla., Rick Clark of Glen White, W.Va., Penny Hookey and her husband Steve of Minnesota, and Joyce Sue Sullivan of Middletown, New York; 12 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren, and his niece and care giver, Melissa Shrader (and her dog moo moo) are among his survivors.
Funeral services will be conducted at the Rose and Quesenberry Peace Chapel in Beckley, on Sunday, February 20, 2011, at 1 p.m., with Rev. Orville Setliff officiating. Entombment will follow at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens Mausoleum at Prosperity.
