The death of A.K. Farnam last week leaves another vacant chair in the early pioneers of this country. Coming to this township among the very first, he has, by his constant accumulations, genial courtesy and prompt business, always been a familiar and welcome friend. Last fall he moved to the north fork near Harlan, but retained his landed property here and was still considered a citizen of this township. Probably no man in this section had a more extended acquaintance than he, and his death is sincerely mourned by a very large number of friends, as was attested by the following at the funeral, it being the largest ever known here except that of Gen. Bull. About one hundred teams were in the procession and five hundred people, representing all beliefs, classes and creeds.
