Professional Boxer. Real name John Edward Kelly. He was the World Middleweight Champion from 1884 to 1891. Some of his known opponents were George Fulljames (from whom he won the title), Jack Fogarty, and Billy McCarthy. He was defeated by Bob Fitzsimmons in 1891. In his career of 64 fights he won 50 and lost 3, with 8 draws and 3 no contests. He died from tuberculosis. He is not to be confused with the later Heavyweight Champion Jack Dempsey.
