Sarah Almira (Elmyra) Osgood was the d/o Stephen Osgood and Lydia Knox Osgood
of Maine. I have used the spelling of Almira as middle name since on tombstone of
daughter's: Louisa, Hattie, and Luella Briery it says Daughters of J. G. and S. A. Briery
over documents that spell her middle name as Elmyra or Elmira. Also, application for
Mexican War Service for husband John G Briery has her middle initial as "A".
UNITED STATES MEXICAN WAR PENSION INDEX, 1887-1926.
NAVY
Briery, John G
Dependant-Sarah A Briery Widow
Service Ord Seaman, "USS Franklin and "Decatur"
Application #12664 of act of Jan 29, 1887 State of Louisiana

She married John G. Briery 17 July 1852 (probably in Gardner, Kennebec Co.) Maine. They left Maine for Mosinee, Marathon Co., WI. before 1860. Then moved
to Waterville, Marshall Co., KS and then in November 1870 moved to Twin Creek, Winfield, Osborne Co., KS., till John G. Briery died in 1892.

1860 Federal Census
Mosinee, Marathon Co., WI. under spelling of
John G. Braroy wife Ellmerie and children.
Wrong spelling for surname should be Briery.
His brother Clement F. Briery left 1868 for
Wausau-Mosinee, Marathon Co., WI. About that
John G. Briery took off for Marshall Co., KS.
Probably free homestead land?
