Anderson. - Mrs. John H. Anderson of 515 East Tenth avenue died at St. Mary's hospital Friday evening June 11 at seventeen minutes after six o'clock. She had been in ill health for several years but there had been no indication of a critical change in her condition until three weeks ago. She was taken to the hospital and underwent an operation last Monday. Death was caused from a complication.

Mrs. Anderson has resided here since the early days and her death brings universal regret. The Anderson family resided on a farm two miles northwest of the city until about fifteen years ago when they moved to Winfield following the election of Mr. Anderson to the office of county treasurer.

She was a member of Grace Episcopal church and an active member of the Eastern Star, Rebekahs and Ladies Grand Army Circle having served in the various offices very efficiently.

Margaret Jane Bryant was born in Des Moines, Iowa, May 8, 1856 and was 64 years 1 month and 3 days old. At an early age she moved to Boulder, Colorado with her parents and came to Winfield, Cowley county, Kansas when a young woman. At the age of nineteen she was married to John Renfrow who died one year later. In 1880 she was married to John H. Anderson and to this union were born six daughters and one son. Three daughters and the son died in infancy.

The husband, three daughters, Mrs. Lionel Milburn, Miss Ada and Miss Ruby all of Winfield, her mother, Mrs. Lucinda Bryant, four brothers, George and Chester Bryant of Winfield, Charles Bryant of Colorado, Lon Bryant of Wyoming and one sister, Mrs. Sarah Sayre of Idaho survive.

During her suffering she was patient and cheerful, portraying a beautiful character to the last. She was a woman of gentle manner and sweetness of character that drew her to a large circle of friends who sincerely mourn with the family in the loss of a friend. Those left will find consolation in the memory of her gentleness and devotion.

The funeral will be held from the home Sunday afternoon at four o'clock conducted by Rev. Frank H. Weichlein, rector of Grace Episcopal church.

Interment will be in Union cemetery.
