Wife of Joseph Olah. They immigrated to the United States through Ellis Island around 1904. Family story indicates Joseph came first and hadn't been in contact with Esther for awhile so she caught a ship to the US and traveled to Elizabeth, New Jersey where she ran into him on the street. (Story from Granddaughter Mary Yuhas.)

Esther took in boarders and ran a little restaurant and was a wonderful cook. She grew a large vegetable garden and would pick mushrooms and did whatever she could to help support their family. They had six children: Mary, Margaret, Joseph, Irma, Elizabeth and August. (1920 Census lists: Isabel 5-1/2 and Mary 1-5/12, so there may have been a seventh child.)
