Ellis Kepler was born in 1822 at Pennsylvania to Jacob Kepler and Elizabeth Corns. He was married to Ruhama McSherry or Kelly.

A son of Ellis Kepler, aged about 13 years, residing several miles west of Renovo, was accidentally shot in the right wrist, on Tuesday last, whilst hunting deer, and it is feared that the wound will produce lock jaw. Dr. Meloy is attending him.

Note: Oscar above, his S.S. record lists his parents as Millard Kepler and Sallie Drake. There was also a Sallie Drake who was married to Clarence Maxwell. She died June 30, 1882. In 1880, there was a Sallie Kepler listed as a seamstress at Renovo and she was widowed.

Ellis Kepler, who has been an invalid for several years past, is reported failing very fast. His physician thinks he will live but a short while longer.

Ellis died Oct. 5, 1883 and is buried at the Shintown Methodist Kepler Cemetery. His wife is buried next to him.

Noyes Township. Death of Two Well-Known Citizens.
With sadness, we record this week the death of two well known citizens of this place – Mr. Ellis Kepler and Mrs. Barbara Linninger.
Mr. Kepler died at the residence of his son John E. Kepler on Friday, Oct. 5th, aged 60 years, 1 month, and 10 days. The deceased spent all his life near this place. He was a good citizen, loved and respected by all who knew him.
