Henry Harrison was born in Ripley County, Indiana. He was the son of Henry Brevard Hukill (1797-1864) and Rachael Copeland (1805-1876).

In 1847 he purchases a tract of land in Brown Twp., Ripley County, Indiana from the estate of William Poston. On the 1850 census he is shown as a cooper (someone who makes or repairs wooden casks or tubs)

He married Eliza Overturf in March of 1850.They had two children. Marcella and John Wesley. John died as an infant at the age of about 6 months. Eliza died shortly before her infant son on July 1, 1853.

March 20, 1854, he married May Ann Wise. They had three daughters and six sons.
They lived in Ripley County, Indiana where their daughter Evaline was born. By 1856 when their son Albert was born they were living in Iowa.

While living in Iowa their small son Robert died November 11, 1859, Toolesborough, Louisa County, Iowa, from accidental death according to U.S. Federal Census Mortality Schedules, 1850-1885.

Henry is shown on the 1870 census in Vincennes working as a cooper. Mary Ann gave birth to a daughter on July 7, 1871 while living there. Two of his sons, Albert, Died: Feb 6, 1870 and Walter Scott Died: December 14, 1870, while in Vincennes. Henry also died there from Malaria, December 11, 1871.

Mary Ann returned to Ripley County, Indiana with remaining children and soon after her infant daughter, Orpha Melinda died, April 5, 1872.
