Author. Born in Vienna, he is best remembered for his novels "The Golem" (1915), "The Green Face" (1916), "Walpurgis Night" (1917), and "The Angel of the West Window" (1927). He also he wrote short stories such as "The Hot Soldier", "The Waxworks", and "Bats". Several of Meyrink's tales have been made into films, especially "The Golem". He died just before the Nazis came to power and his final novel, "The White Dominican", was not published until 1994.
