Dorothy was born in Nebraska, but spent most of her wonderful life in Norwalk, California.

There aren't enough wonderous words to describe this incredible lady. When she walked into a room, everyone turned to look at her and automatically smiled. She spread an amazing energy to all lucky enough to know her. You only had to look into her eyes to see the unconditional love she had for others.

Dorothy, was the finest example of what it ment to be a real Christian. She loved regardless of who you were or how you expressed yourself. Dorothy spread a message of genuine and unconditional love. She gave unselfishly of herself to others and never using her faith as an excuse for prejudice or malice towards others. She loved everyone equally and with an open heart. No one who knew her will ever forget her bigger than life laugh or her warm hugs. She spoke with confidence and was never shy about rolling up her sleeves to help out with cleaning up or jumping in the truck to come to your house or bring you something to eat if you were not well.

She married her beloved husband Ed Ness on May 17, 1969. They were not only a devoted couple, they were the best of friends. She was a devoted mother of five, grandmother of eleven, and a dedicated homemaker. In her spare time she created lovely works of art and enjoyed creating crafts and collecting old time memorabilia and dolls.

She volunteered her time for charitable causes and won the hearts of many. She had en enduring faith and spread God's love, not with forceful preaching or evangelizing.. but with her own presence and love as an example.

Dorothy's beloved son Jeff taught her how to use the computer and she found the memorial for the mother-in-law she never met, Mary Celeste Ness, here on Find A Grave. She wrote: "To a mother-in-law I never knew. Thank you for giving me your wonderful and only son. What a great husband, father and grandfather he is. You would be so very proud of him and I know you would have loved each one of your grandchildren and great grandchildren. GOD truly blessed you with a loving family. THANK YOU for sharing so much with me." No doubt, Celeste is there with her now and they are enjoying tea and cake together and having a wonderful chat!

FROM DOROTHY

"What would you do if every time you wanted someone they would never be there?

What would you do if for every moment you were truly happy there would be 10 moments of sadness?

What would you do if your best friend died tomorrow and you never got to tell them how you felt?

So, I just wanted to say, even if I never talk to you again in my life, you are special to me and you have made a difference in my life."

We chatted on the phone and talked about this and other things for over an hour. This wonderful, vibrant lady who was so full of life was diagnosed with cancer only 5 months later and passed on. She taught me that we should not be afraid to let those you love know how much they mean to you now, while we are alive. She didn't forget anyone and I certainly will never forget her.

Services for Dorothy were held at Hillside Chapel on July 20, 2006 at 9 a.m. The pastor was Jeff Johnson. She now rests in the arms of the Lord.
