Died at Centreville, Scott county on the 17th of Typhus Fever, Huldah, wife of Samuel Sloper, in the 57th year of her age. Her last sickness was very short, she was taken on the morning of the 16th at 6 o'clock and died on the next day at 10 o'clock. She was insensible in two hours after she was taken and remained so with the exception of a few minutes at intervals until she died. Mrs. Sloper was the mother of 17 children, 15 of whom are now living, and grandmother of 38, 30 of whom are living. Her children and grandchildren are still living in this state and most of them in the county, in the above name place, seven miles north of Davenport. Mrs. Slope was a member of the Disciples Church and was beloved by all who knew her. She was a kind and dutiful wife, and tender and affectionate mother. She was lamented by her friends and has left her husband and children to mourn their irreparable loss.
