Marie was born on March 8, 1927 in Milwaukee, WI, the daughter of Herbert and Nellie (Crawford) Hilgendorf. She was married to John Mullenbach on May 4, 1948. Marie had worked for Columbia County Social Services for many years. She had been a member of the Milwaukee Road Women’s Club, and St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage.
She is survived by her husband, John Mullenbach, of Portage; her children, Robert J. Mullenbach, Wisconsin Dells, Barbara M. (Glenn) Knight, Pardeeville, and Jeanne (Greg) Maass, Green Bay; two grandchildren, Jessica (Terry) Hopp, Green Bay, and Amanda Maass, Texas; her brothers and sister, Herb Hilgendorf, Portage, Tom (Delores) Hilgendorf, Portage, Bill (Kathy) Hilgendorf, Portage, Dorothy Hanson, Colorado, Paul Hilgendorf, Portage, and Margaret Hilgendorf, Portage; other near relatives and many close friends. She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday, August 18, 2015 at St. Mary of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Portage, with Fr. Gary Krahenbuhl presiding. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m. on Tuesday at the church. Burial will follow in St. Mary Cemetery.
