Obituary - DR. WILLIAM FRANK DODSON - Dodson, Dr. William Frank, age 82 of Birmingham, passed away on May 13, 2003. He was formerly Superintendent of the Jefferson County, AL School System. He served for 35 years as a teacher, principal and superintendent. Dr. Dodson served our country in the Pacific during World War II, where he was commander of the YMS Minesweeper. He was an active member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife of more than 53 years, Dorothy King Dodson; son, David W. Dodson; daughter Janet D. Springfield; grandchildren, Scott Springfield, Mark Springfield and Danielle Dodson; sisters, Louise D. Sabo and Virginia B. Hallbrooks; and several nieces and nephews. Visitation will be Wednesday, May 14, 2003 between 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel. The funeral service will be Thursday, May 15, 2003 at 2:00 p.m. at Elmwood Chapel, with burial in Elmwood Cemetery. Ridout's Elmwood Chapel 205-251-7227 is directing.
