Rites Tomorrow For Mrs. Gargan
Dies at Her Sister's Home Here as Two Sons, Film Stars, Speed From West
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. tomorrow, with a solemn requiem mass in St. Francis Xavier R. C. Church, 6th Ave. and Carroll St., for Mrs. Irene Flynn Gargan, mother of two film stars, who died Thursday at the home of her sister, Mrs. James A. Wilson, 199 Hancock St. Burial will be in Hollywood. Her sons, William M. Gargan, young leading man, and Edward F. Gargan, who are on their way here for the funeral, were notified of their mother’s death en route. The family home was formerly at 103 Garfield Place. When the boys became successes in motion pictures, their parents moved out to Hollywood. William D. Gargan Sr., retired builder and well-known Brooklynite, died in Hollywood last September. Mrs. Gargan came East after his death to visit her sisters and had been in poor health since. Mrs. Gargan was born in Brooklyn and was interested in local charities. Surviving are her two sons, two grandchildren, Barry and Leslie Gargan, and four sisters, Mrs. Fred Schaffner, Mrs. Robert Johnston, Mrs. Wilson and Miss Grace A. Flynn.
