Virginia Donnell Edgington died peacefully surrounded by her family on Sunday, August 16 at the age of 89. For the last nine months of "Ginny's" life she was lovingly cared for by her son David Donnell and his wife Cammie Donnell as she struggled through the final stages of Dementia.

Virginia Louise Duffy was born in Ponca City Oklahoma on March 31, 1926 to Charles and Vala Duffy. She had a younger sister Dorothy Duffy (Work). She graduated from Ponca City High School and attended the University of Oklahoma where she became a lifelong member of Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. It was there that she met her future husband Albert Miles Donnell and they married on August 2, 1946. From that point on Al and Ginny were a formidable team together as they raised four children, Dian, Dan, David, and Debbie. With Ginny at Al's side they left a legacy that included the construction of Muskogee General Hospital and Regional Health Centers in McAlester Oklahoma and Duncan Oklahoma. They were at the ground level during the planning and construction phases of the Oklahoma Health Sciences Center and many other Metropolitan and state wide hospitals.

Virginia was always active in coordinating hospital charity work and advancing women's educational opportunities with her service and leadership roles for the PEO and Kappa Alpha Theta sorority. She was a talented swimmer and water skier so going to the lake with her family and friends was her favorite pastime. She was an enthusiastic Sooner fan and especially enjoyed going to the football games with her family. Despite her loving care Albert succumbed to cancer in 1990. Six years later she married her seventh grade boyfriend James Edgington after successfully stalking him at her Ponca City high school reunion. Having both lost wonderful companions it was a blessing for them to have another chance at happiness. These two made the most of it, inseparable, living happily in Stillwater Oklahoma for a few years then moving to Epworth Villa. James' sudden death in November 2007 took a toll on Virginia but she remained at Epworth with her many sweet supportive friends until November 2014.

Virginia is survived by her daughter Dian Williams and husband Leon Williams, son David Donnell and wife Cammie, daughter Debbie Brownrigg and husband Terry. Her grandchildren include Kristanne Green, Kori Paris, Dannye Donnell, Austin Donnell, Allie Donnell, Linley Smith, Bray Brownrigg, and Coby Brownrigg. Her great grandchildren include Akiva and Asher Green.

She was preceded in death by her husband's Albert M Donnell and James D Edgington, and her grand daughter Ashley Taylor Addington.

A family graveside service will be held at 2 PM Friday at Rose Hill Cemetery. Family and friends are invited to a come and go reception to honor Virginia's life at 3 PM to 6 PM at blank.
