Carl Joseph Capra, Sr., 90, Overland Park, KS, passed away Friday, September 4, 2015. Visitation will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, September 9, at Cure of Ars Catholic Church, 9401 Mission Rd., Leawood, KS 66206, where the Mass of Christian Burial will begin at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Mount Olivet Cemetery. Carl was born May 22, 1925, in Kansas City, MO, to Sam and Lucy (Tripp) Capra. He was a 1943 graduate of Northeast High School where he was an Interscholastic League Football All-Star. He served as a signalman in the U.S. Navy during WWII. Carl retired as an administrative manager from Owens Illinois. He was an avid Notre Dame and KU fan, and enjoyed coaching. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife of 65 years, Joan Capra, in 2012; and his brother and sister-in-law, Salvatore and Sarah Capra.
Carl is survived by his children, Carl Capra Jr. (Debbie), Lucia Ornelas (Jose), Jerry Capra (Christine), Frank Capra, Liz Mease (J.R.); grandchildren, James Morton (Gayle), Michelle Homan (Elliott), Maria Ornelas, Shelby Kuhns; sisters-in-law and brother-in-law, Gerry Donelian, Don and Ginny McGraw; and many nieces and nephews.
