1st Sgt. Timmy J. Millsap, 39, of Wichita, Kan, was assigned to the 70th Engineer Battalion, 3rd Brigade, 1st Armored Division, Fort Riley, Kan. He died April 25 in Baghdad of injuries sustained in Taji, Iraq, when an improvised explosive device detonated near his Humvee. Mr. Millsap was a 20-year veteran of the U.S. Army, serving in Iraq for the past three months. This was his second tour of duty in Iraq. He also had served in Bosnia and Kuwait. He was born in Batesville, Arkansas on Nov. 17th, 1965 and moved to Wichita, Kansas in 1970. He married his high school sweetheart, Alyne, in 1985. They had a daughter, Deanna. Survivors include his wife, Alyne, of the home; a daughter, Deanna of the home; his parents, Kenneth and Rosalie Millsap, of Wichita; sister and brother-in-law, Sherry and Russell Henry, nieces, Sarah and Emily Henry, nephew, Matthew Henry of Wichita; grandmother, Lois Passmore, of Pleasant Plains AR; many aunts, uncles and cousins. He was preceded in death by his grandparents Alfred and Beatrice Millsap and his grandfather James Passmore.
