Mr. Richard Clinton “R.C.” Jones, age 77, of Flovilla, GA, passed away Tuesday, September 8, 2015 at Westbury Health and Rehab in McDonough.

Mr. Jones was born on Friday, August 12, 1938 in Providence, Kentucky to the late Richard William Jones and the late Mary Lillian Hazel Jones. He was a retired veteran of the United States Army, having served during the Vietnam War. Following his service to our country, R.C. worked at the Philips Medical Systems. R.C. loved his grandchildren and taking care of the farm. He donated to childhood cancer research and was a huge supporter for childhood education.

Mr. Jones is survived by his wife of 44 years, Betty Jones; daughter and son-in-law, Tracie and Derek Vander Ven; grandchildren, Adrianna Vander Ven and Caleb Vander Ven; brother, Bill Jones; sister, Patricia Jones Frasier; several nieces and nephews.

Funeral services for Mr. R.C. Jones will be conducted on Sunday, September 13, 2015 at 2:30 P.M. at the Flovilla Baptist Church with Reverend Neil Wall and Mr. Larry Smith officiating. Interment will follow in Sandy Creek Cemetery. The family will receive friends at the funeral home on Saturday evening from 6:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Mr. Jones will lie in state for 1 hour prior to the service.
