He was born on March 27, 1938 to the late Melvin and Ruby Helen (Stump) Purkeypile in West Milton, Ohio.
He is survived by his wife of 41 years, Leanna L. (Pfister) Purkeypile that he married on May 26, 1962. Also surviving are two sons, Douglas and (Stacey) Purkeypile of Piqua, Ohio and Jeffrey Purkeypile of Tipp City, Ohio. Along with his wife and children, are three grandchildren, Mark, Matthew and Skylar. He also has two sisters that survive, Bonita and Robert Kesson of Coeurd'Alene, Idaho and Ruth Stewart of Las Vegas, Nevada.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 1 sister, and 1 brother.
Donald was a member of the First United Church of Christ in Troy; Covington Fraternal Order of EAgles; US Air Force Veteran in Cuban Crisis from 1961-1965, and was one of the first Boy Scout members to decorate Ludlow Falls. He was active in bowling, Golfing, fishing and he loved to read.
He graduated from Milton-Union High School, class of 1956.
He retired from Globe Motors in Dayton after 35 years of service.
Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery in West Milton, Ohio. There will be a memorial Honor Guard Service at the Graveside.
