Lieutenant Carlon Eugene Cubbedge United States Navy Retired of Toms River, NJ died at the age of 77 on September 10, 2015 at the Ocean Medical Center in Brick, NJ. After a long battle with Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease and Cancer.
Carlon was born in Brooklyn, NY on February 12, 1938 to Carlon Van Cubbedge and Barbara Ann Minikene. His family included sisters Barbara Ann Parrington and Geraldine Daly and a step brother Fred. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1955 and rose through the ranks to retire as Naval Officer in 1978. He served in Vietnam and was awarded the Navy Commendation Medal with Combat V. He was given the Meritorious Service Medal for his exemplary performance of duties upon retirement. He qualified in Submarines and served with distinction on six submarines. He married his childhood sweetheart Norma Vales in Brooklyn, NY on April 5, 1958. He leaves behind a legacy of four children, seven grandchildren, and seven great grandchildren.
After he retired from the Navy, he settled in Ocean County, NJ where he worked in the Antique and Jewelry business until the end of 2014. He had a number of shop locations in Point Pleasant Beach including Classy Collectibles partnering with his wife Norma, and Virginia Walzer. His last venture was as a dealer in the Canvas House Antique and Design Center.
He is predeceased by his parents, and sisters. His youngest sister Geraldine passing just five days earlier. He was a man that loved his family and friends, He was kind and benevolent to all,
He is survived by his son Carlon Joseph and wife Nancy, their daughters, Jennifer, Jessica and husband Michael Alongi, and Jacqueline, their grandsons Austin and Michael, and granddaughter Cecelia. Survived by his son Mark Allen and wife Lisa, their sons, Mark and wife Amy, Timothy, and David and wife Brittany, their grandsons David and Colt, their granddaughters Summer and Melody. Survived by his daughter Linda Luretha Marshall and husband William, their daughter Daniella, her adopted sons Chad, and Michael. Survived by his son Matthew.
Visitation will take place at the D'Elia Funeral Home located at Route 70 and Vermont Ave in Lakewood, NJ on Monday September 14, 2015 from 2-4 pm and 6-8pm. A private funeral will take place at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date. In lieu of flowers Dad has requested that donations be made to Bella Ward, a young girl battling childhood Leukemia.
