NOTE: Given name at birth was Agnes (confirmed - see bottom of bio) but apparently wanted to be remembered as Kathleen which is on her headstone with no middle initial.

Kathleen DeBord, 96, of Yakima died September 12, 2015 at Blossom Place Assisted Living in Yakima.

She was born in Decatur County, Kansas March 19, 1919 to Oscar and Rachel Dunkleberger and was raised on farms in Heartwell & Minden, Nebraska. She graduated from Business College in Hastings, NE. She met Hershel DeBord in Heartwell, NE and they were married Oct. 30, 1938. They moved to Kimball, NE and Cheyenne, WY. They then moved to Bremerton, WA in 1945 where Hershel worked in the shipyard then started in the electrical trade. They settled in Yakima and lived in the house they built together.

She was a homemaker and enjoyed embroidery, crocheting, gardening, fishing, playing cards, camping, most of all she loved being a wonderful Mom and Grandma. She had many great friends and neighbors.

Kathleen is survived by two daughters, Grace (Neil) Knight & Ruth (Lou) Adcock; her 98 year old sister, Lona Kuehn of Minden NE; grandchildren, Gary (Nancy) Knight, Ron Knight, Anita Hill, Doug Hill, Jeffrey Adcock, Douglas Adcock and Rebecca McPherson; great grandchildren, Jess Smith, Michaela Knight, Kyle (Cait) Knight, Craig (Michel) Hacker, Jeff (Heather) Prichett, Russel Haynen, Ashley McPherson, Nikisha McPherson, Tiara McPherson, Louis Adcock, Kaylene Adcock, Naomi Beaumont, Kyle Adcock, Brittney Chloupek, Giselle Hill, Shalynn Knight, Kurstin Knight & Krystal Adcock; and seven great great grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband Hershel, baby daughter Mary Alice, grandson Steve Knight & sister Marie Kuehn.

The family would like to extend their special thanks to the management & staff of the Blossom Place & Memorial Hospice for the wonderful care of our mother.

Visitation will be from 4:00 to 8:00 p.m. Friday, September 18, 2015 at Keith & Keith Funeral Home. Family & friends are invited to join in the Celebration of Kathleen's Life on Saturday, September 19th at 1:00 p.m. at Terrace Heights Evangelical Presbyterian Church where she has been a member for several years.
