Barthena Lyons-Knox Ingersoll
This would be his older sister. We do not know why Coleman would not be living with his mother, Sarah Askew-Lyons but at any rate he was not. And by the next census Coleman had left Illinois and followed his father.
More information was found on Coleman H Lyons.
He is actually the son of Sarah Askew-Lyons and Dr. James Harvey Lyons. He was ruined financially in his medical practice and the economy in 1837, so Susan left him, and so Dr. James moved from Illinois to start a new life.
She was pregnant when she left him, with Coleman who was born the next year.
No divorce records have been found but divorce was recorded before 1844. "More info." by Lynda French
He joined Company C 25th Illinois Infantry, he was First Sgt. but Mustered out as Pvt.
