Ronald, the son of Robert M. Frizzell and Betty Frizzell of Chicago Illinois enlisted in the US Marine Corps on April 7, 1965 in Chicago. In Vietnam he was assigned to and served with Company H, 2d Battalion, 5th Marines, 1st MARDIV (Rein) FMF.

On August 6th, the 2d Battalion began to participate on Operation COLORADO in the Hiep Duc and Song Ly Ly Valleys in Quang Nam and Quang Tin Provinces seeking to destroy enemy forces and supplies of the 620th NVA Division.

On August 12, the Battalion perimeter in the vicinity of Phuong Hoa Airfield some two kilometers northwest of Tam Key was hit by a barrage of enemy mortar, 57mm Recoilless Rifle and rifle fire. The hostile fire killed 5 and wounded 23 Marines. LCpl Frizzell was one of the casualties he was killed by multiple fragmentation wounds from the hostile enemy fire.
LCpl. U.S. Marine Corps, {MC2130357}, Vietnam War-LCpl. Frizzell was killed in action by rocket & artillery fire during Operation Colorado on 8-12-1966 while serving as a Rifleman with Co. H of the 2nd Battalion, 5th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division.

He is the son of Mr. Robert M. & Mrs. Betty Frizzell of 1419 West Balmoral Avenue, Chicago, Illinois.

Awards: Purple Heart Medal, Combat Action Ribbon, Vietnam Service Medal with One Service Star, Vietnam Campaign Medal, National Defense Service Medal.
