Born 12/19/1911, Benevola, Washington County, MD, he was the son of Charlie and Druise Wissinger Baker. He was employed at Fairchild Industries in Hagerstown, Maryland retiring after 37 years of service.
He was a life-long member of the Benevola United Methodist Church.
He is survived by his wife of 68 years, Mary R. Stine Baker, five daughters: Mary E. Butts of Chambersburg, PA, Loretta J. Stotlemyer of Boonsboro, MD, Shirley L. Happ, Betty Lou Kunz of Frederick, MD, and Mary Sue Hamilton of Hagerstown, MD. Four sons, Willis C. Baker, Gary E. Baker of Sharpsburg, MD, David L. Baker of Boonsboro, MD and Larry D. Baker of Keedysville, MD. One sister Elsie M. Thomas of Boonsboro, MD. 16 grand-children; six great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by one daughter, Betty Baker Barrett; three sons, Eugene Baker, Lawrence Baker and Franklin J. Baker, Sr; one grandson, Franklin "Jamie" Baker, Jr., Seven sisters, Viola E. Baker Dubel, Carrie E. Baker Criswell, Lena R. Baker, Myrtle M. Baker, Marjorie R. Baker Reeder, Lillie M. Baker Davis, and Beulah V. Baker Shifler; and four brothers, Harry D. Baker, Albert Baker, Raymond C. Baker, and Willis Baker.
Services will be held Friday at 10:30 AM at Benevola United Methodist Church, burial in the Benevola Cemetery.
