"Mrs. S.G. Key Hunter, 88 years old, died at 6 a.m. yesterday at her home, 1016 Lanvale Street, of general debility. Mrs. Hunter was born in Baltimore in 1818 and was the daughter of Mr. John Scott, a prominent Baltimore lawyer, who died many years ago. By her mother she was a descendant of the old Key family of St. Mary's County. In 1834, Mrs. Hunter married Mr. Thomas Hunter, of Baltimore County, a descendant of the Hillen family. She had 13 children. Six survive her - Edward Hunter of Montgomery County; Frank Hunter of Texas; Mrs. Mary A. Watkins of Washington, DC; William G. Hunter of Baltimore County; Mrs. John H. Surratt and Miss C.S. Hunter. She leaves 50 grandchildren and 20 great grandchildren. The funeral will take place Thursday morning from St. Pius' Catholic Church. Burial will be in Bonnie Brae Cemetery." The Baltimore Sun, 15 Aug 1906.

Thomas Hunter born c. 1812 in Baltimore Co. Md and died 19 May 1857 "at his residence near Rockville, age 45, native of Baltimore Co.; came to Montgomery County about 1851, leaves a large family." Montgomery Co. Sentinel 29 May 1857. To date, his grave has not been located.
