Cecil and his wife Elizabeth had five children: Cecil Leroy Sanford, Jr.; James Terry Sanford; Elizabeth Martin Sanford (born 24 July 1919, died 14 June 1927); Mary Glendy Sanford (born January 1924, married James Anderson Rose in Nov 1948, lived in Telford PA); and novelist Helen Darst Sanford (born 28 May 1925 in Laurinburg, died Dec 2011 in Switzerland, married Swiss economist Rolf Wilhelm).
