Peter P. Messenger, Jr., 75, longtime Marinette resident, passed away Sunday, October 11, 2015, at Cardinal Ridge Assisted Living in Howard with his family by his side. He was born July 19, 1940, to Peter W. and Marjorie (Davis) Messenger. Peter spent most of his life in Marinette and was a graduate of Marinette High School, Class of 1958. Pete was a stand out in sports and excelled in football, basketball, baseball and track. He married the former Marjorie A. Baker in St. Anthony Church in Marinette on August 15, 1959. Most of his employment years were spent with the former Scott Paper Co., now Kimberly-Clark, from which he retired in 1995. Pete was a devoted father and grandfather, supporting his family in all of their activities and especially enjoyed attending sporting events. He carried on a family tradition as an outdoorsman, enjoying hunting, fishing and time spent at the family cabin. Peter is survived by his four children: Dan (Patti) of Green Bay, Linda (special friend, Tom Richter) of Fond du Lac, Mike (Coree) and Jeff, both of Green Bay; his mother, Marjorie Messenger of Marinette; eight grandchildren: Reilly Connaher, Brady Connaher, Carly Messenger, Jack Messenger, Sam Messenger, Ben Messenger, Ella Messenger and Nate Messenger; one brother, Steve (Jill) Messenger; two sisters: Marilyn and Marjorie “Tookie” Messenger, both of Marinette; and a sister-in-law, Mary Lou Baker, also of Marinette. He was preceded in death by his father, Peter; and his wife, Marjorie. Friends may call at Hansen-Onion-Martell funeral home in Marinette on Wednesday, October 21, 2015, from 11 a.m. until 1 p.m. A private interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Marinette.
