Thomas was born May 4, 1935 in Jefferson Davis County, MS. He was the son of Monroe McPhail Sr. and Pearl Whitehead McPhail. He worked offshore as a welder and then owned McPhail welding shop in Prentiss. He was also a dozer operator and owned McPhail Dozer Services. He was a farmer and a Deacon at Dublin Baptist Church.
He is survived by his daughter Stacy Stapleton of Prentiss, MS; Four sons, Thomas L. McPhail, Dale Eugene McPhail and Timothy Lane McPhail all of Prentiss, MS and Larry McPhail of Silver Creek, MS.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife Ottie; four brothers and one sister.
