She was married first to someone named Winters (possibly Hiram Winters, but I have not found the record) and was either divorced or widowed by 1893, then was married at Buffalo on 24 Sep 1894 to hotel magnate Harry Prescott Whitaker. Catherine and Press had a 6-acre estate at Greenwich, Connecticut. In the 1900 census Catherine is shown as having had one child which did not survive, but I have not found the record and am unsure which husband she had the child with.
After Press Whitaker died in 1910, Catherine became sole owner of the Hotel Netherland in Manhattan.
She married a New York broker, Augustus Edward Foran, from St. John's, Newfoundland, Canada, on 12 Dec 1912. They sold the Greenwich estate in 1916.
Though she was born in the United States of German immigrant parents, she was considered an alien and was finally naturalized on 2 Dec 1929.
Catherine perpetually lied about her age, reporting she was ten years younger than she was, and did so on her naturalization petition as well as in census records.
She and Augustus were divorced sometime prior to 1940, and she spent her last years living in the Hotel Salisbury in Manhattan, where she died on 9 Dec 1944.
Her remains were taken to Greenwich, Connecticut, where she was buried, with second husband Press Whitaker, on 12 Dec 1944.
