He was born June 13, 1941, in Moundsville, W.Va., a son of the late Duane M. and Fayne Murray Wood.
He was a graduate of Waynesburg High School.
On September 26, 1973, he married Linda Pollock Wood, who survives.
Mr. Wood retired from the parts department of Ron Lewis Chrysler Dodge in Waynesburg.
He was a member and elder at First Christian Church of Waynesburg.
He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of American Legion Post 330 and Veterans of Foreign Wars 4793 in Waynesburg.
He enjoyed motorcycles and was a member of Legion Riders.
Surviving, in addition to his wife, are a son, Shawn Wood (Melissa) of Waynesburg; a granddaughter, Hannah Wood; a sister, Darlene J. Wood of Waynesburg; a nephew, Jamie Wood of DuBois; and two nieces, Kimberly Perez of Bakersfield, Calif., and Dawn Aponte of Spring Hill, Florida.
Deceased is a brother, James D. Wood Sr.
Friends will be received from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 182 West High Street, Waynesburg, where services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 21, with Pastor Scott Chambers officiating, followed by interment in Greene County Memorial Park, Morgan Township.
