Norris Lee Conner

Norris Lee Conner, 82, of Rising Sun, died Monday, May 14, 2012, at the Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was born Sept. 14, 1929, in Cincinnati, Ohio, the son of Willard and Virginia Norris Conner. He was raised in Rabbit Hash, Ky., and had lived in Switzerland County since 1943. He was in the Navy from April 15, 1948, to April 4, 1952, serving during the Korean War. He was a lehr tender at Anchor Glass, formerly Thatcher Glass, in Aurora, retiring in 1992 after 28 years of service. He enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willena Carlton Conner, whom he married May 28, 1955, and who died Nov. 3, 1971; one stillborn daughter; and his parents. (Notes by Teresa Skaggs, Willena passed away on 3 Nov 1987 in Cincinnati, Hamilton, Ohio).

No service is planned.

Norris Conner

Norris Lee Conner, 82, of near Quercus Grove, passed away at 1:15 p.m. Monday, May 14th, 2012, at the Veterans Administration Medical Center in Cincinnati, Ohio.

He was born September 14th, 1929, in Cincinnati, the son of Willard and Virginia (Norris) Conner, who both preceded him in death. He was raised in Rabbit Hash, Kentucky, and had resided in Switzerland County since 1943. He was inducted into the U.S. Navy on April 15th, 1948, in Cincinnati, serving during the Korean War and was honorably discharged on April 4th, 1952.

He was united in marriage on May 28th, 1955, in Vevay, to Willena Carlton. Unto this union a daughter arrived to bless their home. They shared over 31 years of marriage together until her death on November 3rd, 1971.

He was employed as a Lehr Tender for Anchor Glass (Thatcher) in Aurora, retiring in 1992, after 28 years of service. He will be remembered for his love of fishing and hunting.

He was also preceded in death by a stillborn daughter.
