Agatha "Irene" Stecker, 101, of Wheatland, passed away peacefully at Aurora Memorial Hospital-Burlington on Thursday, Oct. 29, 2015. Born in Mt. Carmel, Ill., on Nov. 7, 1913, she was the daughter of William J. and Chloe M. (nee Stutsman)

Davis. She spent her early life in Du Quoin, Ill., where she attended school.

On June 8, 1934, in Woodstock, Ill., she was united in marriage to Kenneth E. Stecker. Following marriage they made their home in Woodstock before moving to Wheatland in 1977. Ken preceded her in death on Dec. 29, 1999. Irene worked as a nurse's aide at a nursing home in Walworth County. She was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Du Quoin, Ill., on Aug. 1, 1927. She loved spending time with her family and enjoyed playing bingo and cards.

She is survived by her daughters, Mary (Dave) Fleming and Anna May Rucker, both of Burlington; grandchildren, David (Holly) Fleming, Christine (Chris) Robers, Ken (Cal) Rucker, John (Denise) Rucker, Joyce (Greg) Potter; great grandchildren, Scott (Emily) Fleming, Heidi (Eric) Harrmann, Amanda Robers, Haley Robers, Randy Rucker, Ryan Schultz, Tiffany Potter, Tyler Potter, Zachery Potter; great-great grandchildren, Owen Fleming, Mason Fleming, Elsa Harrmann and one on the way. She is further survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends along with her beloved feline friend, Kit Kat.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband; brother, Kermit Davis; and sister, Iona Haines.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff with Aurora Hospice and her nurse, Gail and aide, Sherri for their wonderful care and compassion.
