Obituary

Sarah C. James was born Sep. 10, 1830 in Hanover, Chatauqua county, N.Y., and was married to Amos Sweet Nov. 1, 1858, and died Oct. 14, 1897. She joined the Methodist church at the age of 14 and was a member of that church until 1870 when she joined the Baptist church and has been a member ever since. They came to Kansas in October, 1870, and lived in Marion county until 1880 when they moved to Clyde and have lived here since that time. She has been sick eight years (with dropsy) and a great sufferer most of the time. She leaves five daughters to mourn the loss of a kind and loving mother.
