Ernest Lacy Crump, 89, of Jasper passed away Sunday, November 8, 2015, at his residence.

His visitation and funeral were held Wednesday, November 11th at Jasper’s First Baptist Church. Burial followed at Walker Memory Gardens in Jasper, AL.

Ernest was a devoted husband, father and grandfather who cared deeply about his faith, his customers and his community. He served as a deacon at both Townley First Baptist Church and Jasper’s First Baptist Church. He served on the boards of numerous organizations and supported many others.

He was best known for selling cars. His business has been a staple in the Jasper community for 67 years thriving under his very own philosophy, “Tell a person the truth and do what you say you’re going to do. Don’t back off an inch from what you say you’ll do and remember what you told them.”

He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Crump; daughters; Brenda Galbraith (John), Debra Nations (Randy), Mark Crump (Schrell); grandchildren, Mandy Sutton (Brandon), Eric Crump (Jennilyn), Laura Galbraith, Natalie Laseter (Miles), Bethany Drummond (Josh), Ryan Nations; and three great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Wesley O. and Cinnie Russell Crump; seven brothers and four sisters.

Pall bearers were Kenneth Crump, Dr. John C. Crump, John H. Crump, Randy Crump, Scott Crump and Charles Crump. Honorary pallbearers will be the members of his Sunday School class and the Jasper car dealers.
