On February 14, 1995 he married Shirley Martin Rager who survives.
Mr. Rager was a retired coal miner. He had worked for Humphrey No. 7 Mine in West Virginia.
He was veteran of the Vietnam War, serving in the U.S. Air Force from 1964 to 1968.
He was a member of the Calvary Baptist Church in Lippencott, American Legion Post 744 in Marianna, and the United Mine Workers of America Local 1058.
Surviving in addition to his wife are, AL; three sons, David Rager of Nemacolin, Brian Rager (Sara) of Trussville, AL, and Wesley Rager of Childersburg, AL; a daughter, Crystal Leverette of Petal, MS; and a step-daughter, Nicole McGrady (Ronald ) of Washington; 9 grandchildren; 1 great-granddaughter; and four sisters, Bonnie Garverick of Sun Valley, GA, Connie Ross of Hagerstown, MD, Claudia Watters of N. Charleston, SC, and Myra Santucci of Mt. Morris. One grandson is deceased.
Friends will be received 2 to 4 pm and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday in Behm Funeral Homes Inc., 1477 Jefferson Road, Jefferson, where services will be held at 11:00 am Wednesday, November 25, 2015 with Rev. Nick Bardo officiating, followed by interment in Greene County Memorial Park with graveside military honors by American Legion Post 744.
